If you have the space and money for shelving, even if it's the metal wire ones, they are good for helping to stay organized. Everything can get its own bin/ spot and stay out of the way. But don't worry you will find your own rhythm.

What about it is giving you grief? Things everywhere? Condition of the carpet? I tend to go on a hunt for everything that doesn't belong in that room and remove it. Dishes, trash, bathroom things, clothes. Then go about organizing what's left
